Stable Futures: protect child victims of modern slavery

Trafficked children need protection, support and stability to recover from abuse, but laws to keep them safe could be removed by the Nationality and Borders Bill in the coming weeks, leaving them unprotected and in limbo, unable to continue with their lives or move past trauma. Join us in calling on MPs NOW to vote for protection for child victims of modern slavery in the Bill, and to ensure stable futures for all children who have been trafficked and exploited. Read more

Anti-Slavery Day

In December 2009, the Anti-Slavery Day Bill was introduced in Parliament as a Private Members’ Bill by the then Conservative MP Anthony Steen, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Trafficking of Women and Children (now the APPG on Human Trafficking). ECPAT UK helped to draft the Bill and promote it amongst parliamentarians. Read more

Three Small Steps: Anti-Trafficking Commissioner campaign

As part of its Three Small Steps campaign, ECPAT UK called for the establishment of an Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner to comply with international legal standards and ensure the UK Government is held to account to implement anti-trafficking measures. The campaign was successful and the Anti-Trafficking Commissioner was introduced in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Read more

The Three Small Steps Campaign was launched in 2007 by ECPAT UK and World Vision UK. Following a number of successful outcomes for the campaign, ECPAT UK relaunched the campaign in 2009 focusing on new aims and objectives, calling for safe accommodation, guardianship and the introduction of a National Rapporteur on trafficking.     Before the Harm is Done: Examining the UK's response to the prevention of trafficking

    The UK Government is failing to protect thousands of children from exploitation by lacking a plan to prevent child trafficking, according to a new report by the Anti-Trafficking Monitoring Group (ATMG), a coalition of twelve UK-based charities, including ECPAT UK. The report Before the Harm is Done, stresses that the UK has no specific strategy in relation to preventing trafficking in children, putting thousands of children at risk.
