Our promise to all our supporters

Every year, our inspirational supporters give their valuable time or money to support our life-changing work to protect, support and include trafficked children.

Some campaign with us, some donate to our appeals or by standing order, some raise money by running marathons or baking cakes.

We are grateful to each and every one.

This support has helped us bring about many positive changes, but there is still so much more to do. We need your support more than ever so that we can continue our fight to improve the situation for all trafficked children and those at risk of exploitation.

We want you, as a supporter, to feel valued by us, so we’re making you the following promises:

We will commit to the highest standards

  • We will always abide by fundraising regulations, to ensure that we have the highest standards of fundraising possible. In addition to this promise, we abide by the Fundraising Regulator’s Fundraising Promise

We will respect your privacy

  • We will only contact you if you have ‘Opted-in’ to being contacted, and only in the ways you told us, specifically, mail, email or phone.
  • If you contact us to say you no longer want to hear from us, we will update our records within five working days.
  • If you are registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), we will never call you unless you have expressly given us permission to do so. We do not engage in telephone marketing, so you will only be called by staff at ECPAT UK and never a third party on behalf of us.
  • We won’t target vulnerable people for fundraising. If you or someone close to you is considered vulnerable, we will do our utmost to ensure that all our interactions with you are done as sensitively as possible, and we’ll listen to what you do and don’t want.
  • We will always ensure that our supporters, vulnerable or not, feel able to make an informed decision about how you support us, and don’t feel pressured in any of your interactions with us.
  • If you choose to end your relationship with us, we will make that process as easy as possible, and we will never put pressure on you to continue being a donor.

We will be accountable and responsible

  • We will never ask under 18s for a donation where it is reasonable to assume that we knew their age.
  • Due to its environmental benefits and in order to be as cost efficient as possible, our preferred method of communication is email. However, if you would prefer to receive communications by post we are happy to oblige.
  • We do not purchase ‘cold contact lists’, and we will follow all data protection regulations regarding using our own lists of supporters.
  • We will never sell your data to another organisation. In addition, if we ever need to send data to a third party we will ensure that the company we use takes care of your data in the same way we do.

We will be clear, honest and open
