The Modern Slavery Act 2015 makes provisions for the protection of child victims of trafficking. This course assists frontline professionals to understand their responsibility under the Act and use it to improve identification and care of child victims of trafficking.
Forced criminality and non-prosecution for victims of trafficking

Delivered in partnership with leading human trafficking and modern slavery lawyer, Philippa Southwell, this course aims to provide practical support to identify, safeguard and respond to the needs of children and young people who may have been trafficked and exploited for forced criminality.
Child trafficking through ritual and spiritual abuse

This course is designed to introduce participants to the subject of children who are trafficked through ritual and spiritual abuse.
Best practice in interviewing children

Delivered in partnership with leading refugee children’s lawyer, Kalvir Kaur, this course aims to develop greater knowledge of best practice for interviewing children.
Safeguarding children: trafficking and exploitation of children in tourism

The Secret Gardeners aims to inform professionals about the plight of children who are forced by organised crime gangs to grow drugs in houses across the UK but who often face criminalisation and prison.
The National Referral Mechanism

The National Referral Mechanism is a process set up by the Government to identify and support victims of trafficking in the UK. It was born out of the Government's obligation to identify victims under the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Human Trafficking, which came into force on 1 February 2008.

Stephen's case exposes failings in child trafficking support

‘Stephen’ was identified as a former child victim of trafficking but now faces the threat of removal to Vietnam. His case has rightly received significant public attention, highlighting the urgent need to reform the support system (the National Referral Mechanism) for other children who have been victims of modern slavery in the UK.
