What we do Supporting young people Youth advisory group ECPAT UK’s youth advisory group was set up in recognition that young people affected by trafficking are the experts in their own lives. The group is made up of experts-by-experience including former members of our youth programme and current longer-term members who are in a position to get involved with steering our organisational campaigns and strategy. Meeting bimonthly, members take part in activities that build their skills in public speaking, being a media spokesperson, public campaigning on digital platforms, training frontline professionals and more. Members are recognised for their contributions made to our work. ECPAT UK’s award-winning youth programme was the first ever peer support group for trafficked young people in the UK. It provides a safe space where young people who have been through emotional trauma can socialise and get involved in projects, such as drama and arts, as a way for them to recover from their experiences.
