Working with young people

ECPAT UK believes that children’s voices need to be heard and we encourage youth involvement in all aspects of our work including campaigns and lobbying decision makers. For many years ECPAT UK has worked with partner organisations in the UK to enable young people to campaign against commercial sexual exploitation and to increase service provision and support child victims of trafficking. ECPAT UK is committed to child and youth participation and to building links with youth networks. As a part of ECPAT UK core work, we run a Youth Programme which includes supporting child victims of trafficking, raising awareness and working with schools and youth networks.

ECPAT UK Youth Group

The ECPAT UK Youth Group is a peer support group for child victims of trafficking, specifically females aged 15-21. The group meet on a weekly basis and undertake activities such as skills workshops, creative projects and social activities. If you are a practitioner and would like to refer a young person to the youth group, please contact Debbie Beadle, ECPAT UK Youth Programme Coordinator.

ECPAT UK Youth Panel

ECPAT UK also runs a Youth Panel, a group of young people who advise us on our work with young people. The panel meets 4-8 times in a year and members advise and participate in ECPAT UK campaigns, network with ECPAT UK’s international partners and develop youth materials on child trafficking and child sex tourism. For further details contact Debbie Beadle, ECPAT UK Youth Programme Coordinator.

Working with schools and youth groups

ECPAT UK delivers awareness raising presentations and workshops to schools and youth groups. The interactive workshops explore some of the complexities and tackle the myths around child trafficking and child exploitation. They are centred on the healthy schools agenda and PSHE targets. The workshops can form part of PSHE classes or be delivered as a separate workshop. For further details contact Debbie Beadle, ECPAT UK Youth Programme Coordinator.

If your school or group would like to hold an awareness or fundraising event please contact us for more information by email: info@ecpat.org.uk or call 0207 233 9887.
